BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team worked out in helmets and sweatpants for about an hour and forty minutes under cold and windy weather conditions (temperature around 39 degrees with a wind chill of 33 degrees) Wednesday. It marked the second straight day of cold practice temperatures for UAB, which has actually been welcomed by head coach Watson Brown. The weather will be near the same and possibility even colder when the Blazers travel to Cincinnati for their Conference USA showdown with the Bearcats Saturday.
"This weather was good for us," said Brown. "This is about the weather we will play in, maybe a little cooler. It may also snow a little up there. It will also be cold here in the morning, so it will be two really good days of work in this weather."
Coach Brown was pleased with the day's work and said he hoped to have the majority of the team healthy for Saturday's game.
"We are hoping to have a few people healthier tomorrow and we are hoping the guys in the secondary will heal up," Brown said. "We hope to have Darrell (Hackney) a little stronger tomorrow. All in all, we are about as ready as we can be."
UAB will go through one morning workout Thursday around 9 a.m.
UAB's game with Cincinnati is scheduled for a noon kick off and will be televised locally by College Sports Southeast.
