BIRMINGHAM, Ala.----- The UAB football team held its final practice of the week here Thursday as it gears up to meet Conference USA rival Army on Saturday, October 26, at 1 p.m. EST in West Point, N.Y.
UAB head coach Watson Brown was pleased with Thursday's afternoon session, and said the special teams and kicking game was a primary focus of the week.
"We would like to get our kicking game back to where it needs to be," Brown said. "We had a very uncharacteristic week last week with special teams. That is something we try to pride ourselves on week in and week out. That is something we really concentrated on during our practices."
Army has a well-balanced attack, utilizing 244 rushing plays for 873 yards and 241 passing plays for 1,441 yards. The Black Knights are also known for showing many different sets on both sides of the ball.
"Army is a tough bunch of guys," Brown said. "They have a multiple offense and they use the whole team philosophy to try and beat you. Hopefully we'll be ready for them."
The Blazers will be looking for their first road victory of the season.
