BIRMINGHAM, Ala.----- The UAB football team practiced here Wednesday for a little over two hours in what was possibly the best football weather of the season with clear, cool and sunny conditions. The team continued its preparation for Saturday's game against Tulane, by focusing on the general gameplan.
UAB head coach Watson Brown feels his team is going to be focused on the task at hand, when it meets the Green Wave.
"I think practice went fine today," Brown said. "We have some guys who are a little sore, so we had to hold some out and put some new ones in, but we are going to be ready to play. We had great weather compared to what we've been practicing in, but that's not going to matter too much inside a dome."
The only players who were not present during the practice were the kickers and punters who went to a local turf field, so they can get used to kicking on the field and will be better prepared for the playing conditions.
"We are going to be on turf fields for the next two weeks, so we need to make sure our kicking game is better acclimated to those conditions," Brown said.
Saturday's kickoff against Tulane is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
