UAB-Pittsburgh Football Game Postponed

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -

The UAB-Pittsburgh football game scheduled for

Saturday, Sept. 15 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field, has been postponed by the Big East Conference in the wake of Tuesday's national tragedy.

The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh.

"I feel very comfortable in postponing our game with Pittsburgh," said UAB Head Football Coach Watson Brown. "We have to consider the safety of our athletes and staff members. I also feel that in honor of the many people killed and injured yesterday, it is best that we don't play at this time."

The Blazers were scheduled to hold an abbreviated practice Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

The rest of this week's schedule is still to be determined.

UAB will return to action next Saturday (Sept. 22), hosting Army in the Blazers' Conference USA opener at Legion Field (kickoff 4:00 pm CDT).
