UAB Football Set For First Scrimmage Of 2001 Preseason

FIRST SCRIMMAGE SET: The UAB Blazer Football team will hold its first major scrimmage of the 2001 preseason Wednesday (Aug. 15), beginning at approximately 4:00 pm. The scrimmage will be divided into series of seven plays, with numerous personnel switches on both sides of the ball. There will be no hits allowed on the quarterbacks, and quick whistles on ball carriers in general.

"We will be looking for players in this scrimmage," said UAB Head Coach Watson Brown following Tuesday's afternoon practice. "There aren't many positions sewn up on this football team right now, and this is the opportunity for a lot of these guys to step up. Sunday's scrimmage will be more technical in nature, but this one is all about finding people to fill positions."
