Men's Tennis Fall 5-2 To Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The UAB men's tennis team closed out it's regular season Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to Middle Tennessee State, ranked 29thin the nation, at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center in Murfreesboro.
In doubles, UAB's Andre van der Merwe and Sanzaruz Zaman defeated Kirk Jackson and Mark Pellerin 8-6 at the no. 3 spot, but it proved to be one match short of winning the doubles point as Middle Tennessee captured wins at the no. 1 and no. 2 positions.
In singles, Alex Jung and Zaman were the only two Blazers to take points. Jung defeated Michael Staniak 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 at the no. 3 position while Zaman defeated Trevor Short 6-4, 6-1 at the no. 4 position.
The Blazers will travel to New Orleans, La. to play in the C-USA Championships April 19-22. Positions and opponents are scheduled to be released Monday afternoon.
