No. 36 Men's Tennis Defeats Samford 7-0

The 36th-ranked UAB men's tennis team (2-0) defeated Samford (0-3) 7-0. winning all six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to capture the doubles point.
Sixty-Eighth ranked Andre van der Merwe of UAB won his second straight match as he knocked off David Misner 6-2, 6-1 at no. 1 singles. At no. 2 singles, Alex Jung of UAB defeated Travis Johnson 6-3, 6-0.
In doubles action, Alan Ambrose and Sanzaruz Zaman of UAB defeated Andres Leal and Johnson 8-5 in the no. 1 spot. Tom Dalby and Jung of UAB defeated Raphael Bohli and Misner 8-5 at no. 2 doubles.
This is the second consecutive clean sweep for the Blazers as they defeated Birmingham Southern 7-0 in their season opener on Jan. 23. The Blazers will be back in action on Feb. 6 as they take on the Lions of North Alabama. The match will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Tennis Facility. Admission to the match is free.
