Alaska-Fairbanks Wins Roger Withrow Rifle Invitational

Defending national champion Alaska-Fairbanks held its lead to win the annual roger Withrow Invitational rifle match, held Jan. 26-28 at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on the campus of Murray State University.
Alaska-Fairbanks' gold team held the top team scores in both smallbore (4700) and air rifle (1573), led by the individual leader in both categories, sophomore Matt Emmons, who fired a perfect 400 in air rifle and a match best 1192 in small bore. UAB shot a team air rifle score of 1291 to finish twenty-second in the twenty-three team event.
Leading the way for the Blazers shooting a 357 out of a possible 400 in air rifle was freshman Carrie Underwood. Junior Amanda Leach was next in line for the Blazers shooting a 325. Seniors Selena Bullock (319) and Ashley Fulmer (290) rounded out the team score for the Blazers.
The rifle team will compete again on Feb. 10 as they travel to Murray State for Sectionals.
