Men's Tennis Pushes Forward In Southern Collegiate Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - Senior Tom Dalby and junior Alex Jung of the UAB men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals in Division I doubles play at the Southern Collegiate Championships hosted by the Univeristy of Georgia. The doubles duo, ranked 49th in the WingspanBank.com Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings, defeated Matt Stubbs and John Williams of the Citadel in first round play 8-0 and knocked off Raphael Bohli and David Misner of Samford in the second round.
Dalby and Jung will face Oliver Foreman and Robert Gustaffson of Middle Tennessee in quarterfinal play Sunday.
Sophomores Alan Ambrose and Rusty Walker of UAB fell to Daniel Quinceno and Jody Kane of Troy State 8-2 in second round play of Division II doubles. Earlier in the day, the UAB duo defeated Martin Dimitrov and Damir Krimer of Bethune-Cookman 8-4 in first round play.
Sophomore Andre Van Der Merwe and freshman Niklas Lindstrom of UAB fell to Ferando Damus and Pablo Perez-Gras of Georgia State 8-3 in first round play of Divsion I doubles.
