Dalby Makes Top 16 in T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate

PIKESVILLE, Md. - Tom Dalby of UAB was one of 16 men's tennis players to advance through two rounds of qualifying at the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships earlier this week. The tournament represents the opening leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Grand Slam.
A native of London, England, Dalby defeated Chris McDonald of Mississippi State in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the final round of qualifying to advance to the main draw.
The first round proved tough as Dalby fell to 13th-ranked Ramsey Smith of Duke 6-3, 6-2, which moved him into the consolation finals.
In the first round of consolation play, Dalby fell to 31st-ranked Georges Matijasevic of Auburn 6-3, 7-6.
The Blazers will compete next at the Middle Tennessee Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn. September 22-24.
