Blazers Add Nicholls State Transfer Britiya Curtis

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton announced the signing of guard Britiya Curtis on Wednesday.
"We are excited to welcome Britiya to our program," Norton said. "Britiya is a dynamic guard who plays with great energy, toughness, and confidence. She can score the basketball, create for others, and brings a level of competitiveness that will elevate our team. Britiya is a winner, a hard worker, and someone who fits the culture we are continuing to build. We are thrilled she chose to be a Blazer and can't wait to get started with her."
Curtis spent two seasons at Nicholls State before coming to Birmingham. Her freshman season she averaged 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists per game and recorded 51 steals. She saw action in 31 games and made 26 starts. The 5-7 guard had a career-high 28 points and scored in double figures 16 times. In field goal range, she shot 40.6 percent and had a percentage of 36.4 from the 3-point line. For her efforts on the court, Curtis was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year.
For Curtis' sophomore campaign, she averaged 10.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists per game and earned 45 steals. She appeared and started in all 31 games while shooting 40.7 from the field and 34.6 from the long range. In her second season she also tallied 16 double figure scoring games and had a season-best 22 points. Before the start of the 2024-25 season, Curtis was name Preseason All-SLC Second Team.
The Calhoun, Georgia native averaged 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while appearing in 62 games and making 57 starts during her career at Nicholls State. In her two years as a Colonel, she tallied 32 double figure scoring games, 655 points, 182 rebounds, 87 assists and 96 steals.
Curtis joins Jordan Rosier and Monae Duffy as the third portal signee for the 2025-26 class and joins freshmen signees Ashlyn Howard, Mari Miller, Sofia Munoz and Peyton Musial.
