UAB Track and Field Travels to Tuscaloosa, Tampa for April Meets

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field travels to two meets this weekend: the South Florida Invite and the Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational on April 5-6. The Blazers came off a home meet where the team finished with three event wins and twenty top-ten finishes.
CRIMSON TIDE INVITATIONAL
The Blazers distance corps will appear in the Crimson Classic including newcomers Lia Castillo and Katie Keur, who finished top thee in the 1500 and 3000 meter. Alicia Abalos Cervera, who won the women's 400 meter with a PR time, joins the Blazers in Tuscaloosa for the 800 meter after a third-place finish in the Bulldog Relays.
In field events, Annika Huff and Trinity Fellows participate in the Pole Vault after a fourth and third-place finish last weekend. Huff, who set a personal best in the Spring Invitational, looks to build on last week's performance as one of 27 athletes competing in the event.
SOUTH FLORIDA INVITATIONAL
The Blazers will also compete in the South Florida Invitational, hosted by the Bulls. The Green and Gold send Nia Hill, who finished second last weekend with a season best in high jump. In addition to Hill, Kat Duren, Laney Bishop, and Taylor Washington are the big three participating in the 100m Hurdles. The three hurdlers placed top five in the event at the Spring Invite.
Additional sprinters Gabby Washington will also travel to Tampa, competing in the 400m. In relays, the Green and Gold will compete in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay. Kat Duren, Gabby Washington, Alayah Dozier and Hannah Smith will make an appearance in the 4x100, while Washington, Dozier, Smith and Jasmine Dereje will compete in the 4x4 at the conclusion of the meet Saturday.
