BIRMNGHAM – UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton has announced that Tenley Dowell has been added to the upcoming season's roster.
"Tenley is a high-level, high IQ basketball player, with versatile skills that can impact the game in a variety of ways," said Norton.
Dowell, who played her last four seasons at Butler, is coming off a redshirt junior season where she played in 30 games, made nine starts while shooting a career-best 42.4 from the field and 35.9 percent from 3-point range.
"She is a dynamic scorer and a threat from anywhere on the court. Defensively, she can create havoc with her length," added Norton.
For her career, Dowell has played in 79 games, making 42 starts. She averages 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
"Tenley has a winning mentality, strong work ethic and high character which makes her a perfect fit for our program. She is an amazing young lady and will represent our program in the classroom, on the court and in the community," concluded Norton.
A native of Morton, Ill., Dowell was a high school teammate of former Blazer and current student assistant Lindsey Dullard. The duo won a pair of Illinois High School Association Class 3A championships together in 2017 and 2019.
