Maida Named to C-USA 2022 Volleyball Preseason Team

BIRMINGHAM – Senior outside hitter Fernanda Maida (Cochabamba, Bolivia) of the UAB Volleyball team was named to the C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Maida is a a two-time recipient on the All-Conference USA First Team and AVCA All-South Region Team. She enters her senior campaign with UAB coming off the previous season leading the Blazers in kills with 369 and placing second overall in the league for the same stat, averaging 4.99 kills per set. She tallied a season-high of 32 kills against ODU, followed by a season-high in digs with 15 against the Monarchs.
The Blazers were picked to finish sixth in the league. No. 21 Western Kentucky was voted to win the conference.
UAB opens its season at the Buffalo Invite in Buffalo, N.Y. In the tournament, the Blazers face off against Xavier and host school Buffalo on Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., followed up with Cleveland State on Aug. 26 at 10 a.m.
