UAB Football Completes Day One of Spring Practice

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team took to the field for the first day of spring practice Tuesday on a crisp and clear sunny morning at the Football Operations Center.
"It was good to get back out on the practice field" head coach Bill Clark said. "We had a really good offseason. It seems like a broken record for me. Maybe our best one we've had. Our strength staff and coaches came out here in good shape and worked the team really hard from January until now to get themselves to where they can practice. My first day I'm looking at organization. I though organizationally we were good. Now, we got a long way to go. They practice really well together and there are going to be a lot of good battles going on out there. That is what you want is good competition."
The Blazers once again boast a veteran group entering the 2022 season and have added weapons at the skilled position and on defense. Noah Wilder, who enters the year with 221 career tackles, pointed to the chemistry that has already been developed with this year's team.
"I think we are going to be really good," Wilder said. "Personally, I love this group. We lost some great guys, I'm going to miss those guys and what they did for this program. This team right here, I think we have a lot of good chemistry going right now. I think right there is a starting point. New group, new team. That chemistry is a very important start. I love this group and we work well together. Today, I thought we executed really good as a unit. We are looking to build on that. I'm excited about it."
UAB was just in helmets today and will build throughout spring practice as full pads and scrimmages are on the horizon.
