UAB Softball Hosts LA Tech for Four-Game Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB softball team hosts LA Tech for a four-game series this weekend, April 16-18. This is the second straight Conference USA home series for the Blazers.
LAST TIMEOUT
UAB (18-16, 5-3 C-USA) is coming off a 3-1 series win at home against UTEP. The Blazers took the first three games, before falling 7-4 in the season finale on Sunday.
Sierra Frazier and Jenna Olszewski led the team with four hits apiece, while Olszewski, Faith Hegh and Analyse Petree each plated three runs.
SCOUTING LA TECH
The Lady Techsters (13-19, 3-1 C-USA) own the 14-6 all-time series record over the Blazers and have won the last three matchups.
Offensively, LA Tech is led by freshman infielder KB Briley who has started 28 games this season. Briley is batting a team-high .289, with an on base percentage of .303. La Tech's RBI leader is Caroline Easom, who has 15 on the season.
In the circle, Audrey Pickett (4-8) has pitched a team-high 82 innings, striking out 52 batters.
The Lady Techsters' last game was a 5-4 loss to ULM on April 13.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
UAB has hit 48 doubles this season, the second-most in C-USA. Faith Hegh and Jenna Olszewski are tied for third most in the league with eight apiece.
RBI FRONT RUNNERS
After adding five RBIs in the UTEP series, freshman shortstop Olivia Valbak leads the Blazers with 18 RBIs on the season. She is followed close behind by redshirt senior Analyse Petree who has 17.
GETTING ON BASE
Sierra Frazier (18) and KK Crocker (17) rank No. 5 and No. 6 in C-USA, respectively, for drawing the most walks this season. Frazier also holds a team-high 17 game on-base streak.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Blazers hold a 14-4 record at Mary Bowers Field this season, including winning eight of the last 10.
