William Walker III Named Conference USA Golfer of the Week

DALLAS – For leading the Blazers to a second-place finish in a high caliber field at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, William Walker III has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Walker III tied for second place overall by shooting a season-low 206, which was ignited by an opening round six-under 64. His round one scorecard consisted of six birdies and zero bogeys, and he ultimately ended up carding a -4 for his fourth fourth-consecutive tournament under par.
"William had another outstanding week at Palmetto," said head coach Mike Wilson. "To shoot 64 in round one was very impressive. He's on the verge of winning again really soon."
Walker III has now finished second in back-to-back tournaments to open the spring season. He also has one title under his belt this season which came at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate back in October.
In a field loaded with talent at the Palmetto, the Blazers tied for second overall with Virginia, while beating No. 13 Clemson and only finished behind No. 37 South Carolina. With their impressive team finish, UAB now has an overall record of 74-25-3.
This is Walker's second Conference USA weekly honor of the season. He was also name the Golfer of the Week on October 17 for his individual title at Louisiana Tech.
The Blazers are back on the golf course this weekend, March 15-17, at the Schenkel Intercollegiate.
