BIRMINGHAM – With opening tip just two weeks away, the UAB men's basketball team took some time Thursday afternoon volunteering at The Exceptional Foundation in Homewood. The EF is a non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life for individuals of all ages with developmental challenges.
The Blazers were welcomed with a high five line from the EF cheerleaders before taking the floor with the players in a 3-point contest.
Next up the EF players competed in a slam dunk contest which brought the crowd to its feel with thunderous applause.
"Sometimes our guys get overlooked, but today they can play in from of some Division I athletes to show their skills and their abilities in a fun environment," said Robbie Lee, the public relations director of The Exceptional Foundation. "We've been doing this for three years and UAB's kindness it means so much to our guys."
