BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Leading the battle in the trenches is Trey Clark who has been coaching the offensive line at UAB since the spring of 2016.
Clark played center collegiately at the University of South Alabama from 2009-12 and was on USA's inaugural team. In his time as a player the Jaguars were 25-15 overall.
After his playing career, Clark spent the 2013 season as a graduate assistant under Bill Clark at Jacksonville State. In his year as a graduate assistant, JSU went 11-4 overall and reached the FCS quarterfinals.
Clark was then promoted to offensive line coach at JSU in 2014 and helped the Gamecocks set program milestones, including an appearance in the FCS national championship game in 2015. He was 23-4 at JSU in his two seasons as the offensive line coach.
Clark's offensive line unit helped JSU average 38.9 points per game in 2015 and blocked for quarterback Eli Jenkins who set multiple school records. His group also paved the path for two 1,000 yard rushers that season.
Returning to the field in two weeks from today, Clark's group at UAB is anchored by center Lee Dufour who was a letterwinner in 2014, and left guard Chris Schleuger who most recently played at Northern Iowa.
