BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s track and field team competes in the Auburn Tiger Track Classic across the next two days. The Blazers competed across four different events last week and now heads to the SEC school for another quality meet.
“A lot of our athletes have competed there before,” said UAB head coach Kurt Thomas. “For the girls that went to the Florida Relays and did a lot of relays, we can focus on singular events. And same thing for the distance athletes that compete in California. The most specific and best form of training is competition and that’s what we will get out of this meet.”
Friday night gets started with a few UAB athletes competing across the Hammer Throw, Triple Jump, and Javelin Throw.
The Blazers will be performing in 10 events on Saturday and feature runners in the top flights in a variety of events. Ali Meister comes into the event with the ninth-best time in Conference USA in the 100 Meter Hurdles, a 14.39-second mark she registered at the Florida Relays last weekend.
