Coming off one of the strongest fall campaigns in program history, one that saw the school record for lowest team 18-hole record and team two-day total broken at the USA Intercollegiate, the Blazers are poised for a strong spring season.
Maria Donado, a sophomore transfer from Auburn, leads the charge in the number one slot. Junior Sydney Snodgrass, the 2016 C-USA Co-Most Improved Golfer, is in the number two spot. Snodgrass posted a team-best 75.6 scoring average in 12 rounds for the Blazers in the fall.
Junior Juliana Sebastian is in the number three spot. The Columbia, S.C. native carded a 77.3 scoring average for the Blazers in the fall including two top-20 performances.
Rebecca Chandler, the lone senior on Wilcox's squad, begins her final season in the green and gold. Chandler's two-under 70 in the second round of the USA Intercollegiate on Sept. 11 was the lowest by a Blazer in the fall.
Kayla Wilbourn rounds out the UAB lineup in the fifth spot. Wilbourn carded a 78.9 stroke average in the fall including a tied for 12th finish at the USA Intercollegiate.
UAB joins a competitive field that includes Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Sam Houston State, Tulsa, Cincinnati, North Florida, Samford, Daytona State, Morehead State, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Winthrop, Jacksonville State and UNC Ashville.
Teams will play 36 holes Monday with the final round of 18 wrapping up Tuesday morning. Fans can follow all of the tournament's action on Golf Stat.
