BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team puts the finishing touches on its 2016 fall schedule this weekend when the Blazers travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take part in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic from the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Blazers Marlene Herrmann, Pardis Kianoush and Catherine Ragon are all expected to compete throughout the weekend.
"We will once again be facing players from the best teams in the region, as well as a number of opponents from other areas of the country that we do not typically have the opportunity to play," UAB head coach Mark Tjia said. "Repeatedly going against the best has allowed us to realize the level of focus, composure and aggressiveness needed to be successful on a consistent basis."
Competition begins Friday at 9 a.m. with the first round of doubles, and will be followed by the opening round of singles. The second round of singles is slated to start after lunch.
Play resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. with the second round of doubles, which will then be followed by round three. The event is scheduled to conclude with the third round of singles after lunch.
If weather interferes on Friday or Saturday to the point of cancellation, then the schedule will be pushed back a day and matches will be played on Sunday.
