UAB Travels To Stanford for The Goodwin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team will head out to California for The Goodwin tournament hosted by Stanford. The tournament will begin on Thursday and run through Saturday.
UAB is one of 24 teams in this year's tournament. Along with the Blazers the field includes No. 7 Stanford, No. 11 USC, No. 15 Oregon, No. 24 UNLV, Arizona, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Loyola Marymount, Minnesota, Northwestern, Pepperdine, Princeton, USF, San Jose State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian, UC Davis and Washington State.
The event will span three days and features 54 holes of stroke play. Team scores will be based on the top four scores out of five per round. It will be held on the par-70, 6,727-yard Stanford University Golf Course.
Teams will begin play at 7:30 a.m. PT/9:30 a.m. CT. UAB is scheduled to begin from hole 1 at 8:25 a.m. PT with Colorado and Colorado State.
The Blazers have a quick turnaround after coming off the Chris Schenkel this past weekend. After finishing the first round in 11th, UAB catapulted up the leaderboard into fourth with a 274 (-14) in the second round, the third lowest score of the tournament. The Blazers finished seventh with an 848 (-16).
Across the 54 holes, UAB accumulated five eagles and 58 birdies. Four of the five eagles came on the par-5 seventh hole and junior Martin Rohwer tied for a tournament-leading two eagles. 


Senior Paul Dunne led the Blazers with a 6-under 210 for the tournament. Dunne shot under par in all three rounds, including a low of 69 (-3) in the second round. He finished in a tie for 16th overall.
