Blazer Men's Basketball Holds First Full Practice

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's basketball team held its first official practice of the 2015-16 season Monday afternoon inside Bartow Arena.
Expectations are high for a Blazer squad that features 10 players returning, including all five starters, from a squad that won the 2015 Conference USA Tournament Championship and upset No. 3 seed and ninth-ranked Iowa State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Among the starting five returning for UAB are C-USA All-Freshman Team selections Nick Norton and William Lee, as well as 2015 C-USA Tournament MVP and C-USA All-Third Team selection Robert Brown. Also returning for the Blazers is 2015 C-USA Sixth Man of the Year Chris Cokley.
Head coach Jerod Haase returns for his fourth season at the helm after guiding the Blazers to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. The victory over Iowa State was also the first win for UAB in the Big Dance since a 2005 victory over LSU. Haase also helped lead UAB to its first-ever Conference USA tournament title last season, marking the Blazers' first league tournament championship since 1987 (Sun Belt Conference Tournament).
Season tickets for UAB's 17 home games are on sale for $215 to the general public and $195 to UAB employees and active members of the National Alumni Society. The Blazers and the City of Birmingham will serve as host to the Conference USA Tournament for the second year in a row, March 8-12, at the Legacy Arena. Tickets for the conference tournament are priced at $250 for Premium seats, $180 for mid-court, $100 for Baseline.
UAB opens the season Nov. 13 when the Blazers make the short trip to Auburn, Ala., to face in-state foe Auburn from Auburn Arena.
