BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After two victories at the VCU Nike Classic, the UAB men’s soccer team is the top-ranked squad in the nation in the latest BennettRank Poll. The Blazers climbed 14 spots in the most recent poll to overtake the top spot.
The Green and Gold tallied convincing victories against then-No. 24 VCU and High Point this past weekend. UAB defeated host-VCU 4-0 on Friday night, before tallying a 5-1 win against High Point on Sunday. The team’s nine-goal output was the most in a two-game span since 2005.
In their next match, the Blazers will host Indiana, the 2012 national champions, on Friday, Sept. 6. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at West Campus Field.
