BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB's first-ever intercollegiate bowling team will compete in its inaugural event Saturday at the Bulldog Challenge in Huntsville, Ala.
The tournament, hosted by Alabama A&M, also includes Vanderbilt and Alabama State. The action gets underway Saturday at 11 a.m. CT at the Bulldog Lanes Bowling Alley in the Alabama A&M Wellness Center.

The Blazers are coached by Michelle Crews, a former All-American bowler at UCF and former member of the USA Junior National Team.
This weekend's competition is the first of eight regular-season events on the schedule for the Blazers in their first year.
It is also the first of three straight weeks of competition for UAB, which will also bowl at the Wildcat Invitational in Ormond Beach, Fla., next weekend and at the Beach Open in Nags Head, N.C., the following weekend.
