Aaron Johnson Tabbed Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Aaron Johnson, a junior member of the Blazer men's basketball team, has been recognized as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
Johnson has started all 22 games this season as the Blazers' floor leader at point guard. He is averaging 9.4 points and 4.5 assists per game and has moved into ninth place all-time at UAB with 359 career helpers. Earlier this year, Johnson hit game-winning baskets in the closing seconds of back-to-back contests against Southern Miss and Marshall.
In the classroom, Johnson is a communications major at UAB. The Chicago, Ill., product posted a 3.0 GPA in the recent fall semester.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:05 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Johnson and the men's basketball team (18-4, 6-2 C-USA) return to the court Saturday with a 2 p.m. CT tipoff at Rice. The Blazers are currently tied for second in the Conference USA standings.
