BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team went through a two-hour workout in full pads here Tuesday as the Blazers prepare for Saturday's game at South Carolina.
Kickoff time at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
Head coach Neil Callaway said he was thought Tuesday's practice was a huge improvement from the Tuesday session from a week ago.
"I thought we had a good effort on both sides," said Callaway. "The competition was good and overall, I thought they came out and worked hard. Last Tuesday wasn't very good, but they practiced hard today. We've got a lot more work to do to get ready for South Carolina, but the day went well."
Callaway reiterated what he said at Monday's press conference when he talked about the Gamecocks and their talent. "They are a very good defensive football team," he said. "We know they are going to be physical, hard-nosed. Offensively, we are going to have to step up and accept the challenge."
Callaway said his team's enthusiasm was still high, three days since the Blazers posted their first victory of the season (45-10 over Alabama State on Saturday). We talked about practicing fast and I thought we came out and did that. I'm sure winning the ballgame had something to with that. At the same time, I think our guys realize that for us to win games, they have to practice hard every time we come out here."
The game will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network, WWMM 100.5 FM radio. David Crane will be on the air beginning at 4:30 p.m. CDT with pre-game coverage. In addition to the radio coverage, the game will also be available on television through ESPN GamePlan.
In addition the game will be streamed live nationally on ESPN360.com -- ESPN's signature broadband sports TV network. The game is available completely free to any student on campus (in fact, to any student on any U.S. college campus -- nearly 18 million people.
