UAB Hosts UCF In C-USA Matchup Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will host the Knights of UCF Thursday evening in a Conference USA matchup. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Bartow Arena.
UAB and UCF will be clashing for the 11th time Sunday, with the Blazers holding a 9-1 advantage in the all-time series. In the last meeting, UAB earned an 85-67 win over UCF in Orlando, Fla. earlier this season.
UAB is sitting in third place in the conference standings at 9-5 in league play and 13-14 overall. With two games remaining in the regular season, the Blazers need one victory to clinch a top four spot in the league and a first-round bye in the C-USA Tournament.
The Blazers are led in almost every category by senior guard/forward Diamond Rogers. Rogers is pacing UAB and Conference USA with 17.4 points per outing. She is also putting up team-best numbers in rebounding (8.5 rpg), assists (3.4 apg) and blocks (16).
Senior guard Crystal McFadden is contributing 13.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 2.1 apg for the Blazers. Junior guard Britney Jones has 12.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg and a team-high 2.6 spg.
UCF, which is led by first-year head coach Joi Williams, has an overall record of 9-18 and a 2-12 mark in the conference.
The Knights have a trio of players scoring in double figures, led by freshman forward Tia Lewis who is averaging a double-double with 12.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Marshay White is scoring 11.7 ppg and leading the team in assists (3.3 apg) and steals (1.8 spg). Freshman forward Emma Cannon is adding 11.4 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 20 blocks on the year.
