BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Former Indiana University standout Robert Vaden has officially transferred to UAB and will join former coach Mike Davis's club. Vaden, who will sit out a year as an NCAA Division I transfer, will be eligible to play as a junior in 2007-08.
The 6-5, 224-pound swingman averaged 13.5 points per game for Indiana in 2005-06 and lead the Hoosiers in three-pointers, assists and steals. He was named honorable mention All-Big Ten by both the league's coaches and media. The Indianapolis, Ind., native was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team in 2004-05 after averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for IU.
Vaden joins junior college point guard Andre White (5-11, 180, Highland, Ill., Community College) as Davis additions since the former Indiana coach took over the UAB program on April 7.
