BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2006-07 UAB men's basketball schedule includes four national television appearances, while four other games will be televised to a regional audience, announced Conference USA officials. There is a possibility of several other games being picked up by a regional or national network, but that will not be announced until a later date.
Two of UAB's four nationally-televised games will be against Conference USA rival Memphis. The Blazers and Tigers appear on ESPN on Feb. 8 in Birmingham, marking the second consecutive year the network has broadcasted the game live from Bartow Arena. Last year, the Blazers stunned then-No. 3 Memphis, 80-74, in front of a sellout crowd. The two will also be televised on CSTV on Jan. 16 at Memphis. Both games will begin at 8 p.m. CT.
Two additional UAB games will be broadcast on CSTV, beginning on Feb. 10, when the Blazers host UTEP at 5 p.m. UAB's game at Houston will also be picked up by CSTV on Feb. 17, with tipoff at 5 p.m. CT.
College Sports Southeast (CSS) has also agreed to televise three UAB games, including two home contests. On Jan. 10, the UAB-UCF game will be regionally-televised by the network (8 p.m.), as well as the UAB-Marshall game on Feb. 24 (3 p.m.). The Blazers penultimate contest at longtime rival Southern Miss will be televised by CSS on Feb. 28 (8 p.m.).
The Blazers contest against defending national champion Florida is the lone non-conference game thus far, with the game being aired on the Sunshine Network on Dec. 30 (6:30 p.m. CT).
In all, five of UAB's last nine contests will be televised, including seven of its 16 conference games. Furthermore, CSS will also carry the Conference USA Tournament March 7-10, with the championship game being televised on CBS.
