Blazers To Face No. 31 Alabama Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team will travel to Tuscaloosa Wednesday to face No. 31 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
UAB (7-1) is coming off a 13-5 loss to Marshall last Sunday at Young Memorial Field. The Blazers took two games out of the three-game set with the Thundering Herd as UAB posted a 4-3 win last Saturday and a 7-1 victory last Friday. Sunday's loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for UAB that dated back to last season. UAB's 7-0 mark was the third-best start in school history. In addition, UAB's 10-game winning streak was also the third longest in school history. The Blazers are currently receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll.
Alabama (8-2), currently on a six-game winning streak, is coming off a three-game sweep of Southeastern Louisiana last weekend in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide is ranked 31st in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll.
The Crimson Tide has won four straight over UAB, including the last two meetings in Tuscaloosa.
UAB returns home to Young Memorial Field this weekend to host Toledo (0-3) in a three-game series. Friday, the teams square off at 6 p.m., Saturday's game begins at 2 p.m. and Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Saturday's game has been designated as "Fan Appreciation Day." All fans will receive free admission to the contest.
Tickets for Friday and Sunday's games are $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 3-12, children 2 and under are admitted free and UAB students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
