Blazers Tie Incarnate Word In Dual Meet

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - UAB tied the University of The Incarnate Word in a dual meet held at Barshop Natatorium on UIW's campus as both teams posted an overall score of 95.
The Blazers took the top three spots in the B figures as freshman Hallie Todd scored an 83.680 to take first place, freshman Karen Meyer was second with a score of 82.327 and freshman Vanessa Dash placed third, scoring an 82.277.
UAB also took the top three spots in the elements as freshman Sara Petrov was the top finisher with a score of 84.159, senior Stacy Leiker was second with a score of 83.506 and senior Amanda Haeuser took third, scoring an 83.309.
Leiker teamed with juniors Stacey and Stephanie Jackson to place first in the trio event, posting a score of 87.833.
The Blazers tied for the top spot in the duet event as Haeuser and Petrov teamed for a score of 88.000, tying Jessica Brown and Danielle Kramer of Incarnate Word.
"Incarnate Word had some really strong small routines," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "We have some work to do on our small routines. Overall, I thought it was a strong effort by our entire team. Stacy Leiker and Stacey and Stephanie Jackson did a fabulous job in the trio event."
UAB next travels to Williamsburg, Va. to compete in the Southern Regionals Saturday.
