BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team wraps up its regular season road schedule this weekend, as its travels to Tampa, Fla., to face USF Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast by the C-USA TV Network and can be seen locally on Comcast Charter Sports (CSS).
UAB went 0-2 last week, falling at Louisville, 83-70, on Feb. 6 before losing to Cincinnati, 69-58, on Feb. 8. Louisville's Sara Nord tied a school and Conference USA record with eight three-pointers in the game. UAB's Natasha Thomas recorded her sixth double-double of the season, with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Blazers got as close as three points, but were outscored by Cincinnati, 16-8, in the final 8:34 of the game. UAB cut Cincinnati's lead to 53-50, but it was not enough as the Lady Blazers could not stop UC's Valerie King, who scored nine of her 19 points in the final five and a half minutes of play.
UAB (7-16, 1-9) holds a 23-5 advantage in the all-time series with USF (10-13, 3-7). The Lady Blazers swept the series last season and have won the last three meetings. On Feb. 1, 2003, UAB defeated the Bulls, 62-58, at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., as Natasha Thomas tallied a career-high 33 points in the win. Earlier in the season, on Jan. 12, 2003, both Thomas and Michelle Smith recorded double-doubles, as UAB beat USF, 73-71, in Bartow Arena.
