BIRMINGHAM, Ala.----- The UAB women's cross country team is ranked 12th in the South Region in the latest regional ranking polls, announced by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. It marks the first time a UAB cross country team has been ranked in the region in the last five years.
"I am extremely proud and happy for the girls and for our program," UAB head coach Ray Stanfield said. "This is a great honor, but we don't want to stop with this ranking. We still want to improve and reach our goals for this season."
The rankings include all schools in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.
The Lady Blazers' cross country team will next travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
