Women's Tennis Falls to No. 52 Mississippi State

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's tennis team fell 5-2 to 52nd-ranked Mississippi State Friday afternoon at the Brook Highland Racquet Club.
With the loss, the Blazers fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-3.
Senior Monika Schmid and sophomore Femke deBoer defeated MSU's Carole Soubis and Elaine Fagan 9-7at the No. 1 doubles spot, but it wasn't enough for the Blazers as the Bulldogs captured the wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to take the doubles point.
The Blazers only won two of the singles matches, coming at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Schmid defeated Soubis 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 position, while junior Natascha Immele defeated Camila Sagae 7-6, 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
MSU captured four wins at the bottom of the line-up to lift them to victory.
UAB will try to battle back tomorrow as they host Central Florida in an 11 a.m. match at the Brook Highland Racquet Club.
